Ben’s story
In December 2024, Ben , a six month old Deerhound and his sister, approx. two years old, found themselves at Randfontein SPCA after their owners had emigrated and left them on the property. Dawn had a family that were interested in the female but when she called the prospective adopter already had an adoption application pending. A few days later Dawn was contacted by one of our members whose partner had seen the post on the SPCA FB page and were interested in the young male. They had already been in touch with the SPCA and also spoken to Sighthound Rescue SA. They arranged to take their Wolfhound and two cats through for a meet and greet, which was a success and they filled out an application. The Christmas holidays slowed things down a bit as both hounds needed a home check and then a sterilisation before they could leave. Ben went to his new home on 11th January and has fitted in perfectly with his new family. His sister went to her new home a few days later.
